Control & Monitor Access 24/7

An Access Control system manages the flow of traffic entering, exiting and inside of your business 24 hours a day, whilst restricting access to unauthorized individuals. An access control security system also allows you to identify and manage the people or vehicles entering with information and control settings available in real-time.

Personnel can be granted access using system access cards, pin codes, fobs and biometrics that are specifically programmed to allow or restrict them to certain locations. By installing building Access Control systems on your commercial property you will significantly reduce your business’ exposure to criminal activity, such as thieves and trespassers, and greatly improve the security of staff, visitors and assets.

Types of Access Control

There are three different types of access control:

  • Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
  • Discretionary Access Control (DAC)
  • Mandatory Access Control (MAC)

Each of these systems is managed differently. For example, an RBAC system allows administrators to assign levels of security to users/employees granting them individual authorization to access specific areas, assets, sensitive data, etc. based on their roles.

Frequently Asked Questions

An Access Control System manages the programmed flow of authorized traffic entering, exiting and inside of a building 24 hours a day, whilst restricting access to unauthorized individuals. Personnel can be granted access using System Access Cards, pin codes, fobs or Biometrics that are specifically programmed to allow or restrict them to certain locations.

Physical access refers to the type of system. A physical Access Control System limits access to physical spaces, areas and assets. For example, a physical access control system limits an individual’s access to buildings, offices, rooms and physical assets such as valuable IT equipment or sensitive documents.

A Biometric Access Control System works by using a person’s biometric data (e.g. fingerprints or facial recognition) to grant access to the secured area or assets. A biometric access control system utilises previously stored biometric data to scan and match a person’s biometrics granting or denying them access.

An Access Control System allows you to identify and manage the individuals entering the premises with real-time information and control settings such as who can enter, where and when. An Access Control System can track movement and collect data such as time and attendance. Pin codes, fobs, biometrics and cards are used to grant access.

There are four main components of Access Control which are necessary for the creation and/or expansion of your access control system. These components are; the master station, the site controller, the entry control unit, and the user input device. All four elements work together simultaneously to provide real-time access control.
